The next meeting of the Armenian Parents’ Support Group of the Lanterman Regional Center will take place on Tuesday September 17, 2019 from 6:30PM to 8:30PM at the Library Connection in Glendale, located at 1100 East Chevy Chase Drive, Glendale, CA 91205.
TOPIC: DENTAL CARE FOR THE SPECIAL NEEDS POPULATION
Many families with special needs loved one have difficulty finding providers who have the training and expertise to treat this segment of the population. In addition, since quite often these patients have health issues that impact their dentition either because of difficulty of maintaining good oral hygiene or taking medications with side effects that impact their gums and teeth, it is important to have providers who will address theses concerns. The fear of sedation or general anesthesia is also a factor keeping many families from getting their loved ones the dental care they need. This presentation will hopefully alleviate some of these concerns and help answer many questions.
Speakers: Ivy Fui, DDS, and Leticia Reyes, RDH.
The speakers will cover the following topics:
1- Where to seek dental care for the special needs population.
2- Preventive dental care.
3- What the Regional Center can provide in terms of services
4- Different modes of anesthesia available
5- Nutrition to prevent caries occurrence
